InfraRentals recently supported an important project: the widening of the Twente Canal, in the Netherlands. We have provided our customer with our 8RFB Vibratory Hammer to press 10 km of sheet piling along the quays and revetments. This enabled us to contribute to improving the infrastructure and creating a safer and more efficient shipping route.
The Twente Canal in Overijssel connects the ports in Twente with those in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Antwerp. Because the canal consists of a main branch between Hengelo and Enschede and a side branch to Almelo, it is commonly referred to as Twente canals. Rijkswaterstaat is responsible for maintaining this important logistical link to the rest of Europe. With an increase in not only the number of loads over water, but also the size and weight of ships, the widening of the main and side branches is necessary for smooth and safe passage.
